Frustrating Week

This past has been a really long one and a difficult one for me to work on my assignments. I got a virus and so it has been affecting my computer and its programs. I can not always get into programs and it has become very frustrating. I was excited to work on the weeks past assignemnts but I had to do what I could with my situation and deal with it.

I was able to download Picasa and started to work on that, but I don't understand all the things yet so it was a little difficult for me to finish the Power Point project. I couldn't get the pictures to transfer from one program to another and when I did, it would be the original and not the edited version.

In the web evaluation project, I could open the document listed on the Professor's UEN but could not access the google documents until this morning, when I was able to add my informations to my groups.

Hopefully I can get all of this fixed and prioritize my assigments and understand a little better.

Power Points and other Updates

I really enjoyed this assignment. I never knew there were so many different and creative ways a person could use Power Point. I know that I will definitely be trying many of the activites in our book and see which ones are pretty useful for the future when I become a teacher.
I have also been working on getting my pictures I want to add to my Picasa folder for next week. I am trying to stay on one theme so all the pictures tie together somehow...so I guess we will just have to see how it turns out.

Camera

This camera assignment has been a lot for me. Reading some of those articles were so long, and they had so many definitions and examples that I had trouble keeping them straight. Technology is ever advancing and oftentimes when people buy a product, in just a year or two it is already out of date. There are many different specifications and options when choosing a camera that I would need an expert to assist me in finding the exact camera I needed. But it can also be so useful and a good way of documenting.

Culture Gram...

I really find it amazing how many resources can be found in the Pioneer Library, it is like every time I dig deeper into what they have to offer I find so much information and learn material as well. This past weekt the assignment was to use the Culture Gram link to find a country and create a page on it. The assignment itself wasn't all that difficult or too time consuming....it was just a matter of what country to pick. There were a lot of fun sounding ones. I chose to do Argentina for personal reasons and I learned a lot about the culture and people of Argentina. I already had some backround knowledge of Argentina....but I can imagine the things a student would find interesting on the counties pages.

Power Point

I found the second part of the pioneer library assignment a little more difficult and time consuming to accomplish. Since there was a substitute last week I felt like I didn't really know what was going on. And while he seemed to know a lot about power points I feel as if I would of benefitted if he knew more of what our actual assignment was so he could help in that aspect.

In Class Today....

I was fascinated by what I learned in class today. I have used Pioneer Library before but usually only using EBSCO for school projects. I am excited to go through the links in more detail and see the many possibilities for tools available to me as an aspiring teacher. I will probably be using the e-media, soundzabound, and and the SIRS Discoverer. They all contain many possibilities that I have a feeling I will be spending more than the half-hour minimun time looking at these.

First Two Assignments...

The first two assignments have been really interesting to do. I learned a lot by putting them together. I learned how to use some of the tools that UEN provides...and while I may still be working out some kinks, most things are going great. In the All About Me assignment I tried to add material that made me unique as an individual and yet information that people could relate to. In the K-12 assignment I tried to pick a topic that I always loved in elementary, weather. I tried to find activities and such that would be fun and that kids could learn a lot from. As the semester continues I hope to learn more and perfect on the style of formatting an UEN page.

This Class....

I was really excited when I registered for this class. I had known a little about computers and how the basics worked. Then in the first day of class when we found out some of the thingswe could be doing, like blogging, setting up and keeping an UEN page, and powerpoints. I hope that this class will be a good learning experience and that I can use this education in the future.
